    VGA Audio Video Extender

VGA Extender allows long distance transmission of video signals using category cables. Since cat5/6/5e cables are used, a distance of up to 950 feet can be achieved and use of bulky VGA cables is also eliminated thereby saving space and reducing clutter. For even greater distances, one can use the high end version which relays signals over fiber optic cables. This model operates on single and dual link fiber optic technology. Comprised of two units, a transmitter and a receiver, the former is connected with the source unit and the latter to the display. Once the connections are secured and the unit powered on, the device is ready to be used. Alternatively known as the vga to cat5 extension device, it works on simple plug and play functionality, is easy to install and does not require any additional software or device drivers for operation. cat5 usb extender

USB peripherals can be placed at a distance of 150 feet from the source using a USB Extender for connecting the devices. Consisting of a transmitter and a receiver, the former is connected to the input port on the extender and the latter to its output. Once the connections are secured using Category cables and the device is powered on, the unit is ready to operate. It follows plug and play functionality and simple installation procedures and does not require any external power adapters. Since the Cat5 cables are used for connecting the devices, extension is simple and economical. Compliant with USB 1.0 and 1.1 specifications, these devices are compatible with any USB device.

Three models, the Cat5 USB Booster, the fiber optic extender and the Wireless USB extender, are available in the market. Difference between them lies in the distance of extension as well as the mode of connection between the source and display units. While the Cat5 and the fiber optic extenders use wires for securing connections, the wireless device works on wireless 802.11 type connections. Continue reading »

    hdmi extender cat5

Long distance HDMI extension is made possible by using the HDMI Extender. Since HDMI cables have a restriction on the distance to which the video signals can be extended, the HDMI over CAT5 extender was designed. This device uses Category 5 or 6 cables for connecting the source and display devices. Consisting of a local transmitter which is placed next to the computer or other video source and a remote receiver placed next to the display, this compact extension device relays uncompressed digital streams. The image which is displayed is as clear as it would be if directly connected to the display device. Resolutions supported vary with different distances at which the source and display are placed. At 60M, the resolution is 1080p and 60MHz while at 120M it is 1080i and 60MHz.

Both HDMI as well as DVI inputs can be supported by this Cat5 HDMI Extension device. Following a standard IEEE-168B protocol, it has features like auto adjustment of feedback, equalization and amplification. Some models are also available with Infra red remote control and can extend video up to a distance of 330 feet. Continue reading »

A KVM over CAT5 extender provides the ability to control a computer with its connected peripheral devices remotely. A distance ranging between 330 feet up to 1000 feet is possible by connecting the local and the remote units via category cables, but for even greater distances the KVM over Fiber version can be used. Consisting of a compact sized transmitter and a receiver unit, these devices provide an affordable solution for connectivity over a large distance. Variants of this device support PS2, USB peripherals and VGA or DVI video. While in the USB variant, the receiver requires external power whereas the transmitter draws power directly from the computer to which it is connected, in other variants both units require external power.

    MINI CAT5 KVM EXTENDER 0DT23008A, 230ft

Also called CAT5 KVM Extender, this piece of hardware comes with a plug and play functionality requiring no additional software or drivers for operation. Installation is simple and does not require complex network configurations. High end versions of this device are available with optional stereo audio, RS232 and infra red remote control. Supporting multiple platforms such as DOS, Windows 3x, 9x, 2000, NT, ME, XP, Novell, Linux, UNIX, this extension device has a key feature which is protection of sensitive hardware as the servers and PCs can be isolated from the individuals controlling them. Latest models are also available with dual user options allowing two users to work on the same computer.

This KVM Extender over CAT5 supports video high quality data transmission at resolutions of 1920 x 1440 @ 60 Hz. While system selection and management can be done via Continue reading »

Long distance VGA video extension between source and display devices is made possible by using a VGA Extender.

    wireless vga extender

The device consists of two units, a local transmitting unit and a remote receiving unit, each of which are placed at a distance away from each other and connected with Cat5 cables. There are other forms of video extenders available in the market and the major difference among them lies in the type of signals they transmit as well as by the means in which the remote and local unit are connected. Depending upon the former, they are classified as DVI extenders, HDMI Extenders, composite video or component video extenders. Using the latter category for classification separates these extenders into a wireless extender, a fiber optic extender or a VGA over CAT5 extender.

These extenders are preferred over using standard VGA cables for connection as the cat5 cables are less bulky as well as economical. Available in 1/2/4/8 and 16 ports, these devices are simple plug and play and do not require any additional software or drivers for operation. These units support multiple Continue reading »

usb ranger-2224 multimode fiber extenderExtension of USB devices placed at a distance away from the host computer is made possible by using the USB Booster. These extenders are also known as boosters since they boost the data being sent over longer distances. These devices overcome the distance limitations of 5 meters associated with USB technology by allowing extension up to 150 feet away. If single mode or multimode fiber optic cables are used, a distance of around 10kms can be achieved. The Cat5 extender, the wireless extender and the fiber optic extender are the three popular USB Extenders available on the market today, differing only in the way they are connected to the host computer. If the former version is being used, the connections between the local and remote unit are secured via economical category cables with the latter using fiber optic cables.

The USB Extender is compliant with USB 1.1 specifications. Operating on plug and play functionality, this extender is purely a hardware product which does not require Continue reading »
