ATEN Audio Video Over Cat5 Extender, Transmitter | VE500T
The VE500T Stereo Audio / VGA Video over Cat5e Extender is the transmitter portion of a system that grants you the ability to lengthen the distance from your computer to your speakers and LCD setup using standard Cat5e or better cable.
There are two receiver options (which can be found under related items at the bottom of the page) that must be used in conjunction with this VGA extender transmitter. The first option is the VE500R which supports a distance of 500 feet and a VGA resolution of 1600x1200@60Hz (1920x1200 is supported at 100 feet). The second option is the VE500RQ which has a deskew function and can receive video and audio signals at distances up to 1000 feet away with supported resolutions from 1280x1024 (1000 feet) to 1920x1200 (500 feet).
The setup of this system is very simple and is accomplished by interconnecting the VE500T (transmitter) to either a VE500R or VE500RQ (receiver) using Cat5e twisted pair (UTP or STP) cable. Once this is done just connect the computer or other VGA and Audio source to the transmitter and the display and speakers to the receiver and you are ready to experience bliss!
This Cat5 video audio extender system is great for projects that require an LCD be in full view, but the hardware used to control what is onscreen be hidden for aesthetics. The VE500 VGA video and stereo audio extender would be excellent to use for security or surveillance, allowing the system to be tucked in the background and the display set up prominently for the controller to view.
The long distance VE500RQ receiver has a deskew function for synchronizing the RGB signals manually which allows this unit to extend up to 1000 feet from the transmitter. This functionality will fix timing or color errors which can naturally occur when transmitting video over great distances. Both the VE500R and VE500RQ include balance audio at the input/output for the best quality and RS-232 ports for use with a variety of serial devices.
